Patricia has been interested in stitching since she was about five years old. She enjoys both
cross stitch and needlepoint. However it was not until Patricia discovered the Internet and
found samplers with speciality stitches. After participating in a couple of Thea Dueck’s online
classes and learnt some new stitching techniques including drawn thread work and hardanger, she
became immersed in this passion, and was inspired to try designing her own samplers.
Patricia contacted Susan Albury at Hanging by a Thread in London if she would take her designs to the
Needlecraft show in London. A Frosty Morning (PAD02) won an award by the sponsors, Future Publishing
and they contact me to create some designs for their magazines and Patricia Ann Designs had begun.
Patricia loves to experiment with colours, textures and anything that sparkles, many of my designs are
inspired by the seasons, nature and flowers. Her designs are elegant samplers, many of the designs feature
overdyed threads and are embellished with beads and glass treasures. The designs incorporate traditional
stitches and techniques from the past with contemporary exciting new fibres, threads and embellishments. The
designs are suitable for beginners to intermediate stitchers.
In 2007 Patricia’s book, Beginner's Guide to Drawn Thread Embroidery, was published by Search Press.
Patricia resides in the County of Kent in the United Kingdom and is married to Brian. They have have three
children David, age 22, Gary, age 20, and Lauren, age 11. They also have a Jack Russell Terrier, named Charlie.
